Project

The window cycle, which was created by the artist for the Fraumünster choir, will be carried from Fraumünster to Münsterhof by the artist as part of AUFSEHEN! At a total of 15 flag positions they attract attention to the world-famous painter and one of his greatest works.

Artist

Marc Chagall, 1887 to 1985, was an expressionist painter from France and one of the most important artists of the 20th century. In the 1970’s, the native Belarusian created a five-part window cycle and a rosette for the choir of the Zurich Fraumünster: the Window of Prophets (north window, red), the Window of Laws (south side, blue), the Window of Jacob (east side left, blue), the Window of Zion (east side right, yellow), the Window of Christ (east side middle, green). Today, Chagall’s masterpiece delights visitors from around the world.

Location

Founded in 2014, the Kulturplatz Münsterhof friends’ association takes its first steps with the project in Münsterhof. The Münsterhof is a public square in the Lindenhof district. Major events have been held repeatedly on the square, for example the cultural festival held in 2010 on the occasion of the visit by the Dalai Lama. The current reconstruction work will turn the Münsterhof into a welcoming public square.
