Getting up early in the morning will be worthwile, at least in August 2015. In the framework of AUFSEHEN! The Summer Festival the four old town churches, St. Peter, Grossmünster, Fraumünster and Prediger church invite you to the «Sound of Sensation». Enjoy great morning organ concerts, on 17, 18, 19 and 20 August 2015, each time at 8.15 am. The entrance is free, the concerts last 30 minutes. Takjik song, African dance – the main hall in Zurich main station became once again a meeting place of different culture. About 400 guests followed the invitation to the Vernissage, to celebrate the official start of the exhibition and the Nation Walk «Switzers» on 16 july 2015. The artist and the project partners welcomed many of the portrayed people from 195 nations, their families, relatives and friends. Many of the faces could be recognized by the large scaled pictures from Zurich main station up to the Europaallee. It was a vernissage full of emotionally moving moments. Especially the following tour through the Nation Walk was accompanied by personal statements and became a very special experience.

The impressive portraits, together with quotes of the protagonists, provide a vital accent particulary in the still-growing and ever-changing Europaallee with its urban architecture. Human, authentic & moving: with the sensational Nation Walk continuing to arouse interest in the framework of the AUFSEHEN! Summer Festival until 6 September – as a sign of integration and cultural diversity in Switzerland. The Nation Walk provides a unique platform through which you encounter other society members and learn more about.

Basel was knitting for Zurich’s AUFSEHEN! About 100 kg wool and 250,000 m of thread People of Switzerland and Europe knitted into fabric. Basel proved to be an important centre for knitting. On 3rd July 2015 about 40 knitting friends visited the City Parking, in order to inaugurate the art work «Knitted Parking» together with the artistical director of the project, Ute Lennartz-Lembeck. The arrival of the bus from with the knitting friends were welcomed warmly. During the project new contacts and connections between Basel and Zurich were made. In the basement floor of the City Parking cooled beverages and tasty hotdogs were served to the guests. After the official part with words of gratitude and greetings on the part of the City Parkhaus AG and the artist, the knitting groups visited at first the installation «Knitted Parking» and subsequent the other projects at the guided tour with Zurich Tourism.

Many still know them: the colourful, mostly cardboard tubes, that create great pictures when you look through and turn the tubes. Kaleidoscopes were already known by the ancient greeks. The name loose translated from the Old Greek means «Look beautiful pictures». The invention date back to the Scottish philosopher and scientist Sir David Brewster in 1816. The Kaleidoscope enjoyed a great popularity in the saloons of the victorian England and drifted succesfully to America. After the turn of the century the Kaleidoscopes fell into oblivion. At the end of seventies they experienced their comeback with their colourful pictures. As the kaleidoscope images are as numerous, as diverse and as ephemeral as snowflakes. Even the smallest movement suffices for the beautifully radiating structures to vanish, to blend into a new, unique composition made of light shape and colour for a short time. The pictures never recure and have a relaxing and calmative effect. The core piece is a reflecting prism at which the picutre is refracted. Accurate straightened mirrors create a symmetrical picture. During the Summer Festival you can look through two professional kaleidoscopes on the terrace of the Globus Zurich on the fifth floor. Experience new perspectives.
